TV Remote Holder

I am sure glad that I installed two water bottle holders on the bike. I would have never guessed that I would use them for the tv remotes, but it works great.

Kole's Halloween school performance

Kole had a open house for his school last night. The kids all dressed up in their halloween costumes and sang some spooooky songs. When I took this picture I didn't think much of it but now, I'm not sure what was going on. Kole is the spiderman (with full head mask) in the front center. It appears to me that he was having serious words with another super hero, possibly about not being in proper super hero attire (no mask).

What's wrong with this picture?

Besides poor quality.........
The kids have been playing in the back of the truck for weeks for hours at a time. They set up their lawn chairs and fishing poles in the back. Never mind the playground equipment that's sitting in the background rotting away that we paid a couple thousand dollars for last year. If I would have known this I would have bought a wrecked truck from the auction and set it out back. Who knew?

Tri Cities Marathon

It was a very nice morning for the start of the race. A little chilly approx. 40 degrees, some people I saw were shirtless (freaks) and our first runner (Juan) ran in nothing but a tank top and shorts (crazy). Juan ended up running a 6:25 pace, well done. Garth ran the second leg, and he's been fighting injuries so he wasn't sure what would happen. He ended up running good, but I don't know what his average was. I ran the third leg and I ran with Nike Dri fit tops and bottoms, I did not want to be cold. My knee has been injured for the last two weeks so I had not ran at all. I was a little worried about how I would do. My knee ended up not being a concern at all, it felt great. I ran 6.3 miles at a 6:34 pace. I was happy with that.

Here is our number one runner for Team Herm 1. Finishing the race in perfect form as usual. I think Aaron ran sub 6:00 mile pace for approx. 7 miles. His fans were very happy to see him do so well again.

Team Herm 1 (Juan, Garth, Kevin, Aaron), after a couple hours after the race awaiting our prize for being the FASTEST relay team in the Open division.

Oh Yea, here is the Hermz team (Missy, Jake, Melody). They did alright I guess. They ended up coming in first for the Co-ed relay teams. Missy and Melody ran great. Jake is a pretty good runner. He ran the last two legs (approx. 13 miles) at a average pace of 5:20. Missy ran the second leg and was going to hand off to Jake, but Jake was no where to be found, so Missy stood at the exchange point waiting for him. Apparently a couple minutes later he arrived after a pre race pee. I was told that he ran the first mile at a 4:20 pace to make up for his late start. I was not aware of all this because I was far ahead by this time. Well, not far enough, Jake comes flying by me like I was standing still. He was talking to me and telling me what had happened, all I could get out of my mouth was "OOOKKK", "Good Job", and he was gone.

Happy Birthday Kendall

Kendall wanted to go to Chuck E Cheese's for her birthday, so that's what we did. I LOVE this place sooooooo much. Ken had fun so that's of course all that matters.

Cobra cup holder

Oops, I lied, it does have a cup holder. Just have to look for it. The small things in life are very important to me. Anyways it doesn't fit a 32oz mocha.

No cup holder

What kind of car doesn't have cup holders? This one. It has a nice big ashtray though. Yes its 32 degrees outside, but I can't seem to give up the shorts.

Garths clutch

I took this picture of Garths Ford Pinto, I mean Ford Stang so he could see his new flywheel and clutch setup. He will never see it again.

Unleaded for $2.95

I can't believe that I'm halfway excited that I saw this gas station in Sunnyside with a posting for regular unleaded for $2.95. Its like a bad joke, but I'm not laughing. Especially since I almost dropped my phone out the window while I was driving by trying to take a picture.

Pumpkin Patch Time

Went to the pumpkin patch and the kids got to ride behind the tractor in 55 gallon drums painted like cows. There were all kinds of things for the kids to do, even a corn maze that we spent some time in before I started taking shortcuts. Got our pumpkins and off we went.

What's going on?

Since last saturdays race my knee has been bothering me. I can not run, it hurts way to bad. I have been taking anti-inflamatories, putting ice on it, wrapping it and elevation. I rode for 25 minutes on the indoor bike and after I was done I noticed a little swelling. Had swelling all day long. I will see what tomorrow brings. Next weekend is the Tri-Cities marathon which I (we) am signed up for.

1997 Mustang Cobra

Been doing some work on Garth's car for the last week or so. Already replaced the rear axle bearings and installed new brake pads. The tranny is out awaiting new lightweight flywheel and complete clutch setup. I'm just waiting for the flywheel to come in. I need to get it done so I can change oil in my car, its only been 10,200 miles since the last change. I change oil every 10,000, but change the oil filter every 5,000. I guess I could do it old school with a jack and jack stands, but have been spoiled with the lift.

Fall Frolic 10K race

Had my first 10k (6.25 mile) race today. My coaches were not there, they went up to Spokane to pick up their new time trial bikes. And no I am not getting one, even though Aaron is quite a salesman.
Total time of my race was 40:53, my goal was to keep it below 41 minutes, so I was happy. I think it works out to be a 6:34 average per mile. I placed third overall and third in my age group (30 to 39). It figures the other two infront of me were my age.
Coach's laid out a game plan to run the first two miles at 6:37 average, so I stuck to that and by mile three and four I felt good. I knew I was in fourth position so I focused on passing the third place guy, but decided not to kill myself and try to catch the 2nd place guy, he finished around 39:40 or so.
I made sure that I drank HEED in the morning and had a GEL right before the start and of course after the race had a RECOVERITE.

Pet Safety Tip

Keep your dogs secure if you live on a busy road or any road for that matter. Well I guess there will be one less dog that chases me when I go on my runs around the neighborhood. I ran around the block last night (4 miles) and had at least 10 dogs run after me. I do carry pepper spray and love to use it on dogs that chase me. I know one will not be chasing me next time, thanks to the front end of a chevy. I stopped and talked to the lady and she felt bad. I thanked her for not trying to avoid the dog and running into me.

Front yard 1st cutting

I decided to mow the front yard yesterday. Its only been two weeks since we installed it, but the grass has rooted very nice and I was getting anxious to mow it. It will take me a while to figure out a good riding pattern to use to cut it. I can't wait till next year so Kole and Kendall can mow the grass for me.

Race car hoods

These are the hoods I rescued from Daves shop (thanks) and also from Mitch's sprint car. I feel a trend coming on.

determination.jpg

Randy Perkes sent this to me. I think for "motivation".
I have no comment............

Kole race car

Kole thought it was pretty cool to sit in the race car and pretend to drive. Then he thought it was even better to go sit in all the wrecked cars in back of Daves shop. I was there picking up some old T & D Dairy hoods to hang up in the shop.

Paterson Hill Three-peat

I have not been on the bike for a while so I was excited to ride up my favorite hill.

Below is the average speed, miles, and time it took to ride up to the top of the hill.

After the first time up I figured why not do it again. Below is the second time up.

Well after the 2nd time up the hill I decided why not a third. See below. I thought the 3rd was going to be a lot slower because by then I was a little tired.

No there won't be a fourth time.

I had to call M to bring all my soccer stuff, change of clothes and of course some "Recoverite" hammernutrition.com/za/HNT
because I had Kendall's soccer practice to go to and I was not going to make it home and back in time for that. Above is a picture I found of a nice little hill that alot of cyclist ride in Hawaii, its called KoleKole pass.
